Outlines the problems he has in being confined to his rooms and unable to use apparatus in laboratories, and his financial difficulties. Gives an indication of the research he has been engaged in so far and possible lines he wishes to prefer. Suggests that his former tutor W. C. D. Whetham and Professor F. G. Hopkins would give references for him.
