Dated 8 and 12 May, 1898 - In the letter of 8 May, he is unable to look at the books he wished to consult; Ruthy and Amy have the chicken pox; gives a reference to the Purim Doll, and the Purim fire jumping tradition. In the letter of 12 May, [Abraham] Kuenen's 'Historisch-Kritische Einleitung in die Buc̈her des alten Testaments' contains references to the Purim question.
