Enclosing letter to the Philobiblon Society, 7 Dec. 1865.
Bruxelles. -Annoyed that the friend who should have delivered the portfolio in person has sent it by rail; fears it may now be stopped as it contains a sealed letter.
Bruxelles. -Had hoped to visit but is hampered by severe deafness and vertigo; painful salivation treatment has done no good; was about to consult Mr Toynbee; had prepared a series of paintings for lectures on Columbia coast of North America which he cannot now deliver; will send Houghton a portfolio of 60 portraits of Native Americans which he may keep for £65, otherwise it may be returned via the S.E. Railway Office at Dover.
Bruxelles. -Thanks for letter of 1st Jan.; would not have troubled Houghton about the Mandan [Native American tribe] pamphlet if M. Delepierre had responded with similar graciousness; will call shortly when in London.
