Brady came from the CSIRO Fodder Conservation Section, Hignett, Victoria, Australia to undertake Ph.D. research at the Rowett Research lnstitute. He subsequently returned to Australia.

Calvin was based at the Radiation Laboratory, University of California, Berkeley, USA. Awarded Nobel Prize in Chemistry, 1961, "for his research on the carbon dioxide assimilation in plants"
