Biographical history

Anthony Scattergood (b c 1611-1687) was the son of Elizabeth and John Scattergood. He married Martha Wharton, the daughter of Thomas and Martha Wharton. Anthony and Martha Scattergood's son was Samuel Scattergood (c 1646-1696).

Photocopies of letters written by members of the Scattergood family, including the parents and grandparents of Samuel Scattergood, Fellow of Trinity College. A letter from Anthony Scattergood to John and Elizabeth Scattergood is dated 22 Sept. 1649, another two letters are from Anthony to Samuel and are dated 2 Apr. 1677 and 19 Apr. 1681. Martha Scattergood's letter to Thomas Wharton is dated 30 Sept. 1644, and to Martha Wharton is undated and dated 17 Aug. 1645. Another letter to Martha Wharton is from William Uvedall and dated 24 May 1637.
