Scope and content
Trinity College, Cambridge. Dated 4 July 1904 - Thanks him for the notice that Marett has written a review in 'Folklore' about his work; is happy to accept criticism, is of the opinion that 'we are just at the beginning of anthropology and that all our views will have to be revised and corrected or wholly set aside'; thinks their differences could be more about words than anything, and discusses the difficulty of expressing concepts with words that come laden with associated ideas that mean nothing to the native.
