History
Sophia Croft was born on 18 August 1781, the daughter of Sir Herbert Croft and his first wife, also called Sophia, and baptised at St George's, Bloomsbury, on 13 September. She and two of her sisters were painted as cherubim about 1794 in a painting attributed to Lemuel Francis Abbott, now in the possession of the National Trust. She died unmarried at the age of 75 on 19 June 1857 and was buried at Leckhampton on the 25th.
