Queries a date in it in relation to the publication of Ecce Homo [by Seeley, of which Henry Sidgwick wrote a critique] and points out that the terms ' "classical lectureship" ' and ' "lectureship in moral sciences" ' are 'technically inexact', and goes on to explain the system of appointments and titles.
