Henry Hewitson, the son of Middleton Hewitson and his wife Deborah (née Holme) was born at Benfieldside, Durham, on 9 June 1776. On 22 May 1804 he married Hannah Walker at Redenhall, in Norwich.
He built the schoolhouse at Seaton Burn (A Topographical Dictionary of England).
Hewitson was one of the Proprietors of the Newcastle-upon-Tyne Fire Office (Newcastle Journal, 23 Dec. 1843, p. 2).
Henry Hewitson, then of Cliff House, Cullercoats, and previously of Seaton Burn House, Northumberland, died on 19 March 1843, at Arnolds, Surrey, the house of his nephew Edward Kerrick (Newcastle Journal, 25 Mar. 1843, p. 3).
