The meeting of the Anti-Slavery Society is reported to have been held the previous day, 25 Jun. 1824, at the Freemason's Tavern, Great Queen Street, with HRH the Duke of Gloucester in the chair. The text of a speech by 'Mr. J. Macaulay' is given in full; an MS note at the top of the third page [in G. M. Trevelyan's hand?], states that 'J. Macaulay = T. B. Macaulay, the future Lord Macaulay, aet. [aged] 24'.
