Dated 23 October, 1899 - Was prevented from going to [Nemi?] while in Italy because he was busy with the Congress of Orientalists; is glad to hear that Frazer will revise the part in the 'Golden Bough' in which he discusses Tiele's explanation of the Osiris myth; refers to the madman who made a worthless translation and who made his first visit to Edinburgh miserable [William Hastie?].
