Read in 'The Times' that PS is working on a play about Tchaikovsky's last week, is a devoted fan of 'Amadeus' and is interested in the difference between the film and the play; made the BBC Omnibus film 'Who Killed Tchaikovsky?' and wrote the biography, knows more about Tchaikovsky's last week than anyone else alive, other than Alexander Poznansky, who deplores his conclusions; offers to meet.

Notebooks, all but one undated (item 24 carries note "April '96" on front), some with general pointers to the act or scene being revised, many others with no indication. Most notebooks are only partially used, with many blank pages. Some notebooks include other notes, drafts of letters, including a draft of [Desert Island Disc?] music choices (item 18), a draft of some writing about Laurence Olivier in Richard III (item 23), research notes (items 24 and 25), a draft of some reminiscences (item 26), an unfinished draft of a letter to Alexander Poznansky praising his biography of Tchaikovsky (item 30).
