Part of Papers of Sir Peter Shaffer

Flat 2, 8 Melbury Road, W.14. - Admires 'Equus': the communication between author-actor-audience was complete; compares it to the great Greek plays in theme, dignity, and [catharsis]; Alec MacOwen [McCowen] was excellent and John Dexter surpassed himself.

Thanks him for sending the card of the scene in his play ['Equus'?] but doesn't think it good enough for the writing and performance; means what he says in comparing the play to one by Aeschylus, doubts any critics have said this, given what they say about the 'petulant childishly amateur piece like 'Savages'.
