Part of Papers of Sir Peter Shaffer

Went to see 'Equus', found it splendid, agrees the National does everything in its power to make his play invisible, unavailable, scheduling it 'almost not at all, and then not for very long'; with the other plays on, his slices his way to something authentic, natural and really felt; doesn't think he's 'ever grasped so firmly on the various oppositions that haunt you'; praises the actors and John [Dexter]; is not enjoying London, it isn't what it was, is going back to Rome where work has started on their house.
