Brandon Street, Edinburgh - Clears up a misunderstanding about the preparation of the 'Fasti': refers to instructions from Sir James not to print any of the Commentary until he had finished revising the text of the translation; is glad to know Books V and VI are coming shortly; defends himself against her accusation of 'severity' on her 'interference', points out 'interference' is her term not his; illustrations need to be approved with their legends by Sir James before they can print them.

One double broadsheet of proof slips and one smaller broadsheet with a proof slips page, of isolated phrases and lines which have been corrected for the third edition. The double broadsheet is headed 'Golden Bough Mendings -- Parts I-VII' and carries an R. & R. Clark, Edinburgh ink stamp dated 11 Dec. 1914 and the single broadsheet is headed 'The Golden Bough -- Mendings' and carries an R. & R. Clark stamp dated 19 Mar. 1915.

Brandon Street, Edinburgh - Is concerned to hear about Sir James' eyes; they will subscribe to five copies of the bibliography; they made an error sending revised proofs of 'Fear of the Dead' accompanied by the corrected slips, communicated this to Macmillan to put it right; Macmillan was not to blame.

FRAZ/10 consists of two boxes containing the manuscript draft of 'The Worship of Nature'. The draft, in J. G. Frazer's hand, is corrected and has addenda slips, with typesetters' marks, and dates from 1925. Chapters are divided and numbered in a different manner than in the final printed volume. The title page for chapters XIII and XIV [printed chapters XIV and XV] carries an R. & R. Clark ink date stamp of 15 Aug. 1925, and the last chapter title page lists the date Frazer sent it to Clark: 15 Aug. 1925.

Galley proofs marked by Frazer [and another hand?], with ink stamp 'First Proof' at the top of some pages, some also carrying 'Marked Proof' and 'R' in pencil at top, with ink stamps of R. & R. Clark, Ltd. Edinburgh at bottom of some sheets, dated 5-11 Oct. 1934. The corrections are mostly typographical, with the addition of a paragraph in 'Memories of My Parents' describing residences of Frazer's father now found on page 137 of the printed volume.
