"Vinchelez", Chase Court Gardens, Windmill Hill, Enfield, Middlesex - Encloses a letter from the Council of the Royal Anthropological Institute with their congratulations [Letter FRAZ/4/2/49 in the collection]; is disappointed to hear he cannot come to the annual meeting; mentions Elliot Smith's letter to the 'Times' about the necessity of a Central Bureau for anthropology while ignoring the work the Anthropological Institute has done, and asks if he could write a letter to the 'Times' in defence of the Institute.
Court Leys, Toot Baldon, Oxford - Gives his support to the plan to share the unpublished material, is sure the Anthropological Institute will want to join with the Folklore in supporting the project, but suppose the support to be 'platonic' as they 'have to find a new house'.
Royal Anthropological Institute - The Institute is interested in the proposal to publish his notebooks, and requests a draft of the particulars.
as from Trinity College, Cambridge (Dictated) - They cannot wait until October and cannot submit further details but will go ahead and print the Circular [for the 'Anthologia Anthropologica'] and hope the Council of the Anthropological Institute will support the undertaking in due course.
Heage House, 38 Crouch Hill, N.4. and The Folk-Lore Society - In the letter of 24 June, he discusses options for membership for [Robert Angus] Downie; spoke to Allan Gomme and passed on Sir James' message to Lady Gomme; will let her know later about the sponsoring of the [anthropological] notebooks. In the letter of 1 July, he thanks her for the membership for Downie; tells her confidentially that there may be a funding conflict at the Royal Anthropological Institute in support of the anthropological notebooks.
Department of Oriental Antiquities and of Ethnography, British Museum - Has withdrawn the appeal for publication of the 'Anthologica Anthropologica' from the agenda of the Council meeting of the Royal Anthropological Institute; hopes he did not give the impression he doubts Sir James' s credentials, but that they have rules that MSS must be submitted before publication; he also doubts the Institute is able to undertake the publication of large works; thanks her for the gift to the Institute of the 'Fasti'.
The Royal Anthropological Institute, 52 Upper Bedford Place, London - The Council views with sympathetic interest the publication of the 'Anthologia Anthropologica', but does not feel it could go so far as to sponsor it; has asked permission from the editor of 'Man' to distribute the prospectus with the next issue.
Department of Oriental Antiquities and of Ethnography, British Museum - Thanks her for the copies of the prospectus for the 'Anthologia Anthropologica', will see they are distributed to the members of the Royal Anthropological Institute Council; will need several hundred if they are to be sent to subscribers of 'Man'; he does not doubt Sir James' judgment in making extracts, but the Council must carefully consider publications it approves; takes her point about international students not having access to books readily accessible in England; thanks her for her kind messages to his parents.
Department of Oriental Antiquities and of Ethnography, British Museum - Thanks her for the prospectus for the 'Anthologia Anthropologica', will put it on the agenda of the Royal Anthropological Institute; thinks that there should be summaries or references rather than long extracts from books readily accessible in public libraries.
