Printed notepaper, 'W. E. Wood, manager, Trinity College, Cambridge, Kitchen Department'. - Has 'but a six months knowledge' of Henry Brown, but can say he is 'a thorough man in all he undertakes, perfectly straightforward, sober, punctual. & very hard working'. Would be 'sorry to lose him' though feels he 'ought not to stand in the way of his improvement'. Before leaving, the 'Messrs Hudson gave Brown a high character.'

Marked 'Copy'.
