Pieces which may be Robert Milnes' own composition are a dialogue between Mopsus and Menalcas [characters from Virgil's Eclogues], and a lyric entitles 'Salve, Alexandrovna', dated 13 Mar. 1874 and presumably written to mark the marriage between the Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna of Russia and Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh.
