East India College - Thanks WW for his circular on the Graces to be proposed next Tuesday. HM cannot imagine 'the possibility of so suicidal an act as their rejection by the Senate. If the University refuse to take this onward step, I know not on what grounds she is henceforward to be defended'. Consequently HM fully hopes to be present to tender his vote.

East India House - A vacancy has arisen at the East India College at Haylebury due to the resignation of its principal, Charles Le Bas. A possible replacement is the Rev. Henry Melvill, a graduate of St. John's and fellow of St. Peter's. Could WW supply him with information on his 'moral character, and mental qualifications'.
