Part of Additional Manuscripts c
Writes on the death of Henry Sidgwick to express his [and his wife's] deep sympathy on Nora's loss, the news of which came to them as 'an unexpected shock' since they did not expect that his illness would be fatal. Refers to the esteem in which many held Henry, who was 'as sympathetic as he was just [and] as conciliatory as he was high-principled.....' Declares his loss to be 'a national one.'
