A miscellaneous group of writings, fragments of writings, mathematical computations, drafts of letters, and a letter. The drafts of letters from Whewell to unidentified people are undated (item 2, 97). The letter, from Daniel Ross, is dated 9 Oct. 1847 (item 128). With several titled drafts: "Directions for Tide Observations" (items 23 and 81), "Memorandum respecting Tide Observations" (items 95-96, "An Essay on the Theory of the Tides" read 11 Nov. 1839 (item 102), "Note on the Tides for the Brit. Assoc. at Glasgow, 1840" (item 125), and "Note on Tide Observations" (item 127).
