Correspondence.

J/82: 1976–1989. Includes invitation to Synge to become a trustee of the proposed Haldane Research Centre and list of other trustees.
J/83: 1981-1989. Includes copy of memorandum of association for the Haldane Research Centre.

The first letter in the sequence was written by Davis from the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta. After a period as an FAO coconut agronomist in Indonesia Davis returned to India where he became Director of the J.B.S. Haldane Research Centre in Tamil Nadu.

Visit in Dec. 1987.

Synge was an Adviser to the Haldane Research Centre, see H/72. In 1987 he opened the Library and Guest House at the Centre.
