Addressed to Mr Travis, York, brother of Mr Travis, the College Chaplain, 'now confined as being deranged', regarding the latter's position as Chaplain.

Concerning the Rev. William Travis's position as chaplain, which Whewell does not think reconcilable to the College and therefore thinks 'it necessary very soon to take steps to declare his office vacant' and elect a replacement.

Announces that as there is no satisfactory replacement for his brother as College Chaplain he will announce the position as vacant in a fortnight. Accompanied by a note that Mr Travis died immediately after the date of this letter.
