Thanks Onslow for his 'most generous donation' sent in response to 'the Lord Mayor's invitation'; hopes he will do 'all he can to make [the Society's] work more widely known'.

Contains letters from various figures associated with the society regarding Onslow's work for them: predominantly writing précis of articles in scientific journals such as Nature deemed relevant [see ONSL/3/11], but also providing translations and lists of books which should be reviewed, and writing articles for the Society's journal. Some typed copies of letters from Onslow to the Society also present.

The list consists of: Fecundity versus Civilisation by Adelaide Moore; Report of the Physical Welfare of Mothers and Children by Dr E. W. Hope and Janet M. Campbell; The Passing of the Great Race: or the Racial Basis of European History by Madison Grant.

Kingsway House, Kingsway — Has neglected paying attention to publications on 'Heredity and Genetics' recently. Asks if anything is not yet included in the 'Reviews' or accompanying list, so that they may arrange for reviews. Asks whether Onslow will remain in Cambridge over winter.

The second sheet is a list of 33 publications related to eugenics.

3 Selwyn Gardens, Cambridge — Lists 7 works related to genetics, 7 works related to evolution and biology, 7 works related to psychology, and 8 works related to eugenics more generally. May have missed relevant genetic works, but has abstracted many from journals and will send soon. Still in Cambridge conducting government research, so unlikely to come to London. Hopes typhoid has abated. A list of 3 works appended at the end.

Encloses more abstracts. Noticed last issue published abstracts as a general abstract of genetic subjects. Has accordingly 'run the enclosed abstracts together ... instead of putting the title and number of the journal at the head of each one'. Asks for Gotto's opinion.

Kingsway House, Kingsway — Proposal to change the method of 'presenting our periodical literature' which 'has been criticised'. Will create 'attractive titles' for 'each group of abstracts on allied subjects' and relegate references to the journal they are from to the end of the article. Imagines Onslow would rather create these titles himself. Suggests 'Sponges in Evolution' as a title for his recently submitted abstracts. Want to make the journal 'attractive to the lay mind'.

Kingsway House, Kingsway — Has 'taken over the bibliography scheme' and hopes to recruit members to 'abstract for the Review anything that is of eugenic interest', including past literature. Suggests Onslow goes through volumes of the Genetics Journal, in addition to his offer to cover current periodicals.

Kingsway House, Kingsway — Invitation to a discussion entitled The Disabled Sailor & Soldier and the Future of Our Race, to be opened by Leonard Darwin. Asks for the ticket to be returned if unavailable, due to limited number of invitations.

Kingway House, Kingsway — Can't trace all the publishers of the books recommended. Asks for clarification if known. Also asks for a translation of an article in the Revue Anthropologie, if possible.

Returns proof sheets. Made some verbal alternations to French article, but already returned original. Asks Gotto to check it. Can lend articles from the American Naturalist to Major Darwin if desired, given delays in book shipments from New York. Asks for them to be returned once completed.

Kingsway House, Kingsway — Onslow's subscription was due on 15 May 1917. Hopes that he will continue his support, as the Society is hoping to expand and exert influence on 'local authorities and institutions' to help shape post-war reconstruction according to eugenicist logics.

11 Lincoln's Inn Fields, London — Received German scientific papers from the Department of Board and Trade. Require abstraction of articles on Mendelism in the 'Zeitshrift fur Induktive Abstammungs-u-Vererbungslehre'. Won't send them until hearing back 'as they are as heavy as their title'.

Kingsway House, Kingsway — Mrs Gotto would be glad to receive the review of 'The Soldier Colonists' as soon as possible. Asks for abstracts to be made of 'Zeitschrift fur Induktive Abstammungs und Vererbungslehre'. Will bring volumes in person if task accepted.

Kingsway House, Kingsway — Sent periodical literature for abstracting. 'Nature' is being covered already. Will acquire papers if needed. Asks to be informed if quarterlies do not contain much material so another selection can be sent. Is now well again.

Kingsway House, Kingsway — Mrs Gotto was mistaken in saying that 'Nature' was being covered and the 'B.M. Journal' was not. The reverse is true. Glad Onslow may later be able to cover old volumes. The Review publishes abstracts of publications not sufficiently connected to eugenics to be included in the bibliography, in order to keep the bibliography clear and not 'over loaded'.

Kingsway House, Kingsway — Heard Onslow is perhaps 'willing to write abstracts of some of the books in our library'. Work is progressing, but specialist knowledge and familiarity with texts is necessary. Requests information on 'subjects, authors or particular books' Onslow is knowledgeable about.
