Downside Abbey, Stratton-on-the-Fosse, near Bath.—Asks him to borrow two articles by [Morris W.] Croll from the [Cambridge] University Library. Encloses particulars of a vacancy. Has just met Passarin d’Entrèves, the new Professor of Italian Studies at Oxford. There seem to be a number of Catholic dons there concerned with that subject now. Asks who got the chair at Cambridge.
Postmarked Cortona, Arezzo. - Alex. [Passerin] d'Entrèves writes that he will be back in Oxford in a few days and hopes to see Trevelyan. Morra writes that he is waiting to see Trevelyan and the [Clifford] Allens.
Postmarked Cortona, Arezzo, sent to Trevelyan at the Shiffolds and forwarded to 9 Stalney [? for Stanley] Crescent, London, W.11. - Has received the Montaigne, and is thinking about a book that he could send. Has finished [Forster's] "Aspects of the Novel": found many 'good occasional remarks' but does not think it is 'critically very sound'. Owes a long letter to Nicky [Mariano]: they are in Tunis. D'Entrèves is in Oxford.
Postmarked Torino. - A pleasure to get Trevelyan's card. Has come home for the holidays, but will be back in Oxford next term; looks forward to meeting Trevelyan again, and sends New Year wishes.
Rome. - Is to be in London unexpectedly on the 22-24 March, for a meeting of the Federal Union. Asks if he could come to the Shiffolds after that for a day or two; if that is inconvenient because it would be just after Easter, he might possibly be able to go first to Oxford to see d'Eutrèves' wife (d'Eutrèves himself is in America) or stay on in London for coming to see Trevelyan. Asks Trevelyan to write c/o Miss Vanzetti at the Italian Embassy.
