The enclosed letter, from Sir Edward Goschen to Wickham Steed and dated Sept. 1, 1905 states that Steed has mixed up his stories, that he never heard Steed's story before, but has one of his own of a Chinese man committing suicide in revenge against someone, an example of their contempt for death; can't believe what is happening re: the Japanese and Saghalien [Sakhalin Island], given the sacrifices the Japanese made.
