The Governorate, Nathus, Palestine. Dated 8 March, 1921 - Gives details of two annual occurrences, survivals of Philistine Mysteries or Ritual: young women bathing in the surf in early spring at Askalan; has mentioned it to [John] Garstang, who is working at Askalan, and the Feast of the Bab el Darum, a fair that seems to be a survival of a pagan ceremony; the surface finds in Palestine are very rich.
