4 October 1878.
Dear Sir,
I am directed to call your attention to the undermentioned Work which you are editing in the series of “Chronicles & Memorials”, vizt “Robert of Gloucester”.
This Work was authorized by the Treasury on 3 Feby 1868, & was expected to have been completed at Press long before this date.
As I am informed that the early completion of the Chronicle would anticipate steps that may be taken by the Treasury & Stationery Office, as part of a general plan for enforcing the completion of all very old outstanding Works, I shall feel obliged by your stating whether your Chronicle will be finally completed at Press during the present year; or, if not, how soon after.
Yours faithfully,
William Hardy.
W. Aldis Wright, Esq., &c., &c.
