Part of Papers of Richard Monckton Milnes, Lord Houghton
On embossed notepaper, Badsworth Hall, Pontefract. - Objecting to local petition to discontinue Sunday post to Pontefract; principal groups of signatories; false piety; petition alleged to have originated with Post Office clerks who dislike early rising; successful ban would set a dangerous precedent; petitioners should have doors marked with holy symbols to deter profane intrusions by postmen.
