Edinburgh, 5 South East Circus Place (on notepaper embossed 'Post Office'. - Became private clerk to the Solicitor to the GPO in 1859 when family circumstances forced him to abandon his own legal training; eyesight now threatened by close work; encloses press cutting on his Persecution of the Knights Templar; hopes to obtain an Inspectorship to relieve his sight; in the meantime seeks introduction to London publisher; his completed writings include Scottish tales and a novel set in Rome during the reign of Trajan.
