Dales Lodge, Andover. - Encloses advice from a cousin as to obtaining a commission [for Albemarle Dewar]; would Houghton approach Sir Arthur Hardinge? Hopes to return to Italy next month. Enclosure: unidentified correspondence to Elizabeth Taliacarne, addressed as 'Poppy', 1 Jan. [1871]. On embossed notepaper, R. H. A. Barracks, Dorchester. - Remembrances to Arthur and 'Pidgin'. Albemarle Dewar's list must be put on the Commander-in-chief's list and that of the Colonel-in-chief of the Coldstream Guards; Arthur Hardinge might also assist. Postscript: could get Dewar's name onto the Duke's list.
