Part of Papers of Richard Monckton Milnes, Lord Houghton

Stanley Hall, Wakefield. On headed notepaper for Henry Briggs, Son & Co., Whitwood Collieries, Normanton. - Would much gratify them to secure Houghton's co-operation on the board of directors; 'especially would it be of great assistance to us in the settlement of questions affecting the mutual relations of employer and employed, in which we have some difficult problems before us'; should Houghton therefore decide not to accept any of the others, will again put the matter before the directors. Believes that 'all should be combined under one management, rather than that a fresh Company be founded'.
