The sketch is captioned ‘Dame Cobb. “Now my little dears when you've done your A. B. C. and sums you shall go out & have some play[.”]’ The sketch includes a board on an easel showing various marks awarded to Macnaghten, Hollond, and Thornton, subscribed ‘Loughrigg Cottage | August 13. 1863.’

The sketch is captioned ‘Miserable wretch who has been trying to do Paper B. While Fiddler’s cows were lowing. Bobby shreiking [sic]. Jack snorting. Ann pumping water & Macnaghten dancing with the bedpost above.’ Cf. the sketches on ff. 13v and 14r.

The sketch is captioned ‘Chester Macnaghten. his messe’ (there is a mark at the end of ‘Chester’, the significance of which is unclear).
