Scope and content

Scott's Hotel, Langham Street, London, W.1. - Originally enclosing a copy of the new scene for insertion into the vocal score of the 'B. of D.' ["Bride of Dionysus"]. Is trying to get an up-to-date copy for Mrs Christie [Audrey Mildmay]; there are 'some tiresome details' in Act I, since when he first wrote it he 'suffered too facile an indulgence in bright modulations to major mediants & submediants', and he cannot remember how he got rid of them. Gives the musical notation for these places. Is beginning to see how to 'speed up Dionysus'. Hopes Bessie is making good progress.
