Three Cocks’ Hotel, Three Cocks’ Junction, Breconshire.—Was grieved to hear of Steve’s death. He often used to go from Cambridge to Blandford[?] via Leicester, in order to see him. Will send the collect he uses on such circumstances. Has had to postpone his planned visit to Jack. Will try and call on her on his way to Cambridge on 9 October. Has let the rectory till the 14th.
