Scope and content
K.C.C. - Returns Peter's MS with not much to say; outside comment can be most helpful to teach the main technique of writing, but he has already mastered that; he read the two stories Peter had marked and two more; he has a wide range of subject; notes that where he is observant and natural, which is most of 'The Pit Boy' he makes 'good reading', but when he is 'contriving' it wasn't so interesting; it is a pity that because of its length 'The Pit Boy' could not be entered in the competition: the four boys 'are sketched out excellently'.
