Portée et contenu
Red Cross, St Mark's Buildings, Alexandria. - Asks Trevelyan to send him 'a Selzer drome and anything else written lately" [a reference to Trevelyan's "The Pterodamozels: An operatic fable", as is Forster signing himself 'Morgan Smith']. Was asking Dickinson for news of him the other day. Is composing something on the Atonement, and Alexandria provides an excellent escape from the war. Has got to know C. P. Cavaffy [sic] and heard all about 'a school at Volo' [the Nafplion Trial in April 1914 of Alexandros Delmouzos and Demetrius Saratsis]. Prefers the Greek community at Alexandria, which he discusses, and praises the poetry of Cavafy; is satirical about the Syrians, Bedouins, French, Italians and English.
