Describes a 'large and influential meeting recently held in the Hall of the Philosophical & Literary Society in Leeds' to hear an address by James Stuart on the topic; resolution unanimously passed recognizing 'the extreme value of the proposed Extension of Highter Education throughout the country to all classes by means of the Universities' and proposing that a committee should be formed immediately to 'decide on and adopt the best means of assisting in the attainment of that object in Leeds and its neighbourhood'.
