Kings Coll. Camb. - Thanks Trevelyan for sending his plays: "Sulla" is one of Trevelyan's 'most charming works' and he likes the 'Krishna' ["The Pearl Tree"], but he is not sure about the third ["Fand"]. Met a professor in Paris [perhaps Garnier: see 2/156] who did not know Trevelyan's work, and so sent him a list and a copy of "Solomon" ["The Foolishness of Solomon"] which has always been a favourite. Hopes Trevelyan is now recovered. Supposes he himself ought to have the operation, but cannot make up his mind to. Had a very interesting talk from a 'distinguished and eminent Russian scientist'. Discussion of the Russian 'experiment' and the failures of the 'capitalist west'. Asks if the rebuilding is finished. Sends love to Clifford [Allen].

Note
A pencil annotation dates the letter to 1930, but the reference to Trevelyan's operation points rather to 1931.
