Scope and content

Ferrybridge. - Asks if he may turn the pony which Houghton gave him 'into your park so that it may have a little graze'. Is intending to take a short journey for his health; thought 'the Poney would be more comfortable with its companions than left to the care of a Boy who are not always to be depended on'. The pony is well and 'very quiet', and Carter is much pleased with it; hopes he has benefitted from his 'several rides out with the Carriage and Poney', for which he is very grateful to Houghton.
