This is an artificial collection created for the purpose of incorporating into the Catalogue of Modern Manuscripts descriptions of some of the manuscripts and other papers inserted in printed books in the Library. Only those items have been included which seem worth describing separately; notes on, or additions to, the texts of the printed works by their former owners have generally been excluded.

Most of the items included in this category are letters, and most are connected with the publications into which they are inserted.

Numbers are assigned to the descriptions in the order in which they are added; they have no other significance.

This material is open for research unless otherwise stated.
