        History

        Born 28 May 1888 in Longsight, Manchester, Lancs., son of John Gerrard McCubbin. Educated at Manchester Grammar School. Matriculated at Trinity College, Cambridge in 1906 as a pensioner, received the Bell scholarship in 1907 and B.A. in 1909. Ordained to the curacy of Astley Bridge, Bolton, in 1911, became Lecturer and Curate of Bolton Parish Church in 1920, and Vicar of Kellington, Yorks. in 1923. He was appointed to Aysgarth in 1933, and in 1945 was appointed to the united benefice of Reepham and Hackford with Whitwell and Kerdiston. He died 2 July 1954.
