        John Staniforth Patteson, the eldest son of John Patteson, MP, was born on 21 October 1782 and baptised at St Stephen's, Norwich, on 11 November 1782. (These dates are derived from unsubstantiated information from Ancestry.)

        He died on 30 August 1832, aged 49 years.

        His memorial in St Peter Mancroft, Norwich, records, among other things, that: ‘He was an alderman of the city of Norwich, and served the office of mayor A.D. 1823. He was also an active magistrate for the county of Norfolk and during a most eventful period of our national history he held the important post of Lieutenant Colonel of the East Norfolk Regiment of militia, ’
