Historia
He was a fellow and council member of the Society of Antiquaries.
He may have been a civil servant: in a letter to Dawson Turner (O.13.28/No.54) he explained that he worked in an office which transferred papers to the State Paper Office. In his next letter, he told Turner that he had found papers signed by George II in his workplace, which he sent to Turner. Both of these letters were addressed from 'F.O.'.
His eldest daughter, Frances Sarah, married Edward Walhouse Mark, an artist who was the son of William Mark, the consul and governor of Malaga.
Another daughter, Lucy Ann, married Frederick Charles Ellis, son of Sir Henry Ellis, in 1850.
