History
Susannah Watts, the daughter of Robert Watts (later of Horstead) and his wife Massey (née Everard), was baptised at Crostwick on 17 December 1777 (baptism register, where her name is misspelt ‘Suannah’). On 27 May 1811 she was married at the same place (under the name ‘Susan’) to William Wickes of Blickling (parish register).
In the 1851 census she is recorded as a ‘landed proprietor’, aged 73, living at Aylsham with an unmarried daughter, having presumably been widowed by this date. (In the 1841 census a sixty-year-old woman of the same name is name is recorded at the same place, but it is unclear whether it is the same person.) She died at Aylsham on 20 December 1857 (National Probate Calendar) and was buried at Blickling on the 28th (burial register, where her name is given as ‘Susanna’ and her age at the time of her death as 80.
