Born 13 April 1867, the daughter of John Forbes White, trained at the Collegiate School in Aberdeen, attended University College, Dundee before going up to Newnham in 1891, where she taught classics until December 1906, and was a member of the College Council until 1908. She married Nathaniel Wedd in August 1906.
