Count of trees and poles filled in by hand, agreeing exactly with that in HOUG/AB/5/23. 'All of which said Trees are numbered and marked with the Scrieve Iron, to distinguish the same from such as are not intended to be sold or taken down'. Conditions of purchase and requirements for the felling and gathering of timber printed, with some dates added by hand. MS note at end certifying that Mr Thomas Holmes of Ferrybridge, timber merchant, agrees to purchase the time and poles for two thousand five hundred pounds, less 2 1/2 per cent discount, 'and to carry the said conditions into effect'. Stamp noting the receipt of the balance pasted in at bottom and dated '21 Apr. 1873' over the top, with George Parkin's signature as witness. 'Lord Houghton' and 'Thomas Holmes' written in pencil, as if to mark a space for their signatures, but these are not present.
