B/270 includes correspondence and press cuttings re the Annual Meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science, which was held at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada. Includes press cuttings re J.J. Thomson's presidential address, which opened the conference proceedings, 21-31 August 1909.

Lady Thomson stayed in Winnipeg with her husband, son and brother-in-law during the Conference. She wrote an account of her journey for the Empire Review. They returned to England in October 1909.
