        History

        David Edwards, the son of Thomas and Margaret Edwards, married Sarah Hughes at Llangollen on 19 December 1782. {1} Since he was twenty years of age at the time of his marriage he may have been the David Edwards whose birth on 24 January 1762 is recorded in the register of Llantysilio nearby. {2}

        {1} ‘David Edwards of this Parish Bachelor, Son of Thomas Edwards Freeholder by Margaret his Wife, aged 20, and Sarah Hughes of this Parish Spinster, Daughter of Edward Hughes Freeholder by Elizabeth his Wife, aged 19, were married in this Church by Licence with consent of Parents this nineteenth Day of December, in the year 1782, by me | Edward Jones Vicar | This Marriage was solemnized between us David Edwards and Sarah Hughes in the Presence of [Signed] Robert Edwards | Ellis Jones’ (Llangollen parish register).

        {2} ‘Edward and David two Sons to Thomas Edwards of Cymmo by Margaret his wife was Born the 24 of January 1762’ (Llantysilio parish register; perhaps the implication is that they were baptised the same day).
