Scope and content
Thanks Sidgwick for letting him keep two volumes of the Arabic text of the Arabian Nights, which he had lent to him some years previously. Relates how he had taken one of the volumes to Bagdad [sic] that year and 'read many stories on the actual spot where the events narrated are supposed to have taken place.' As he has become so attached to the books, begs Sidgwick to sell him the set. Reports that he has obtained '800 good cuneiform tablets of the period of 2300 B.C. from Hellah, and from Egypt, among other things', and that he bought 'the largest and most valuable Book of the Dead known.'
